List of Available Scholarships

You will be considered for all of the following scholarships that you meet the criterion for when you complete the honors conditional application:

Award: One to two awards of up to $3000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be a member of the Honors College
  • Must be enrolled as a fulltime student (12 hrs.)
  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 60 hours
  • Must have a minimum CUM GPA of 3.0 ( on a scale of 4.0)
  • Preference will be given to students who graduated from high school in San Antonio, Edgewood, Harlandale, and South San Independent School Districts or successor districts in Bexar County or from Early College High School (ECHS) in Texas.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are first-generation students (parent did not complete college) as indicated on Apply Texas and/or the FAFSA

Award: One award of $400 to $700 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree (any major) within the Honors College
  • Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must have a minimum CUM GPA of 3.50 or above (on a scale of 4.0)
  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 24 hours of study at UTSA

Award: One to two awards of up to $3000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree as a member in good standing in the Honors College
  • Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must demonstrate a spirit of volunteerism as demonstrated as part of the application process
  • Applicants will be considered on merit regardless of financial need

Award: One award of $750 to $1,000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be majoring in mechanical engineering
  • High school applicants must be in the upper 20% of their high school class and have a SAT score of 1100 or above or an ACT score of 24 or above
  • Transfer applicants must have a grade point average of 3.2 (on a scale of 4.0) or above
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Awards may be renewed for up to 4 years. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 CUM GPA to be eligible for renewal

Award: One to two awards of up to $4500 per year (renewable)

  • Entering freshmen must have graduated in top 10% of their class and have a minimum SAT score of 1000 or ACT of 21
  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at UTSA
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must maintain full-time status and a minimum GPA of 3.25 (on a scale of 4.0) to be eligible for renewal

Award: One award of $1,500 per year

  • Applicants must be enrolled in the UTSA Honors College as an undergraduate or transfer student from a community or junior college in Texas.
  • Applicants must have been enrolled for a minimum of 12 hours for the fall and spring semesters of the academic year prior to award year.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 60 semester hours at the time of award.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Must have demonstrated record of leadership, volunteerism, and community service while in college.
  • Preference will be given to Veterans of the U.S. Military among equally qualified candidates.

Award: One to two awards of $800 to $1000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree through the Honors College
  • Must be in good academic standing with the Honors College

Award: One to two awards of $500 to $1000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree in natural sciences through the Honors College
  • Must be in good academic standing with the Honors College

Award: Two awards of up to $3600 per year

  • Must be enrolled at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Must be in good standing with the Honors College
  • Must have and maintain a CUM GPA of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must have financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid
  • Recipient(s) should have proven experience through previous high school or college academic work for great potential for academic success and dedication to achieving a degree as well as being role models for other young people in their communities who face adversity in reaching their educational goals.

Award: Up to 40 awards of $500 to $3000 per year (nonrenewable)

  • Must be a member in good standing with the Honors College
  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Entering freshmen applicants must be ranked in the top 20% of their high school class with a minimum SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 24
  • Current Honors students or entering transfer students applying must have a minimum UTSA or CUM GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 semester credit hours of Honors course work
  • Must maintain a minimum UTSA or CUM GPA of 3.25

Award: Up to 25 awards of $2500 per year

  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Must demonstrate leadership and community service
  • Must have graduated in the top 50%, and preferably in the top 25% of their class and have a minimum SAT score of 900 or ACT score of 19
  • Must demonstrate financial need a determined by UTSA's Office of Student Financial Aid
  • Must be a resident and have graduated from a high school in designated counties in South Texas
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Must be an entering freshman
  • Must be a first-generation college student
  • During their first four semesters, Greehey Scholars must participate in a designated Academic Success Program

Award: Up to seven awards of $1000

  • Must be making satisfactory progress toward a degree in any discipline and a participant in the Honors College
  • Must have a CUM GPA of 3.50 or higher ( on a scale of 4.0)
  • Applicants for the junior standing scholarship must have earned a minimum of 60 credit hours, including work in progress, at the time of application.
  • Applicants for the senior standing scholarship must have earned a minimum of ninety semester credit hours, including work in progress, at the time of application.
  • Must have completed a minimum of one academic year (two regular semesters) as a full-time at UTSA. A full-time undergraduate student is one enrolled in twelve or more semester hours of credit during fall, spring or entire summer term.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must demonstrate a potential for and interest in pursuing graduate studies at a preeminent college or university
  • Must not plan to graduate until Spring

Award: One to two awards of up to $2000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree through the Honors College
  • Must be in good academic standing with the Honors College

Award: 80 awards of $1,500 a year (renewable)

  • Must be a member of the Honors College
  • Entering freshmen must be ranked in the top 20% of their high school class or have a composite SAT M+CR
  • score of 1100 or composite ACT score of 24
  • Current UTSA and transfer students must have a minimum CUM or UTSA GPA of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours) and be actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Award is automatically renewable as long as the student remains active in the Honors College, maintains a UTSA or CUM GPA of 3.25 or above, and is enrolled in 3 semester credit hours of Honors course work

Award: One or two awards of $500 to $1,000 a year (renewable)

  • High school students applying must be in the upper 20% of their high school class and have a SAT score of 1140 or an ACT score of 25 or above
  • Transfer students must have a GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) or above
  • Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must be actively pursuing a degree in the College of Business
  • Awards may be renewed for up to four years. Must maintain a minimum CUM GPA of 3.0 to be eligible for renewal.

Award: One award of $500 to $600 a year (renewable)

  • Applicant must be a freshman or sophomore student in the Honors College
  • Entering freshman must have graduated in the top 25% of their high school class
  • Must be a citizen or permanent resident alien of the U.S. or foreign student from India
  • Applicant must submit essay demonstrating interest in Indian culture and philosophy
  • Recipient must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours), actively pursuing a degree at UTSA, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a scale of 4.0), maintain a class attendance rate of 95%, and demonstrate academic progress toward an undergraduate degree in four years in order to meet eligibility requirements for renewal

Award: Up to two awards of $500 to $1,000 per year (renewable)

  • Applicant must be admitted to the Honors College to be eligible for scholarship
  • Applicant must submit an essay with Honors College application
  • Transfer applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Fall incoming freshmen applicants must be in the top 10% of their high school class or have a minimum SAT score of 1175 or ACT score of 26
  • Recipient must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Recipient must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA
  • Awards may be renewed for up to four years. Recipient must remain active in the Honors College and maintain a CUM GPA of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) or above to meet eligibility requirements for renewal

Award: One award of $500 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree through the Honors College
  • Must be in good academic standing with the Honors College
  • Preference will be given to students from traditionally underserved populations or who are first-generation college students and are pursuing a degree in the technology fields

Award: One to two awards of up to $1500 per year

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree through the Honors College
  • Must be in good academic standing with the Honors College

Award: Up to twelve awards of $2500 to $3000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be a member of the Honors College and be in good standing
  • Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must be pursuing a major in the College of Engineering or the College of Sciences
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Incoming freshmen must be in the top 20 percent of their high school class or have a minimum SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 24
  • Award can be renewed for up to four additional years provided the recipient continues to meet the criteria

Award: One award of $400 to $600 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree through the Honors College
  • Must be in good academic standing with the Honors College

Award: One to two awards of up to $3000 per year (renewable)

  • Must submit an application to the Honors College
  • Transfer students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher
  • Fall incoming freshmen must be in the top 10% of their high school class or have a minimum SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 24
  • Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 hours) and actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Awards may be renewed for up to a total of four years. To be eligible for renewal, recipients must remain active in the Honors College, and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Among equally qualified candidates, preference shall be given to African-American students

Award: One award of $900 to $1,500 per year (renewable)

  • Must be a member in good standing of the Honors College
  • Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 hours) and be pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA
  • Must take one three hour Honors course per semester

Award: One award of $500 to $900 per year (renewable)

  • Must be enrolled in the Honors College, actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Must have a minimum CUM GPA of 3.5 ( on a scale of 4.0) and be in good standing with the Honors College

Award: One award of $1,000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be in good standing with the Honors College and actively pursuing a degree through the Honors College at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are international students from Mexico among equally qualified candidates

Award: One award of up to $3,500 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree through the Honors College at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Must be in good academic standing with the Honors College

Award: One award of $1,000 to $2,000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be a Bexar County resident
  • Must be pursuing a major in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts through the Honors College at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 18 hours of study at UTSA
  • Must have a minimum CUM GPA of 3.30 (on a scale of 4.0)
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • The Duran Family prefers a recipient(s) who has encountered personal challenges requiring perseverance and determination to pursue an undergraduate degree
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid

Award: One award of $500 to $700 per year

  • Must be enrolled in the Honors College and actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Must be in good academic standing with the Honors College
  • Preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in engineering or the sciences

Award: One to two awards of up to $2000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree through the Honors College at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Must be in good academic standing with the Honors College

Award: One to two awards of up to $2,000 per year

  • Current and transfer students must have a CUM GPA of at least 3.0 at time of application
  • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by UTSA's Office of Student Financial Aid
  • Recipients must maintain a CUM GPA of at least 3.0 to remain eligible
  • Recipients must be enrolled in at least 15 credit hours each semester and actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio

Award: One to two awards of up to $1500 per year (renewable)

  • Students eligible for loans and other private scholarship may apply. However, students receiving other financial aid grants meeting their full financial need are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • Recipients must be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 hours), be accepted into the Honors College, and be actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio
  • The scholarship is renewable for up to three years after the initial award providing the student continues to meet the requirements of the Honors College.

Award: Up to three awards of $3,000 per year (renewable)

  • Must apply as a graduating senior
  • Must have received a bachelor's degree from UTSA
  • Must plan to enroll in a UTSA graduate program as a full-time student (9 hours)
  • Recipient must maintain a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0

Opportunities within the Honors College

The Honors College offers students the opportunity to participate in a number of different programs to further expand knowledge, especially in the realms of professional development, leadership development, and public service. Special programs are fully integrated into the Honors College curriculum, making credit transfer simple and ensuring that students are working toward Honors requirements.
