Admission to the UTSA Honors College
Admission to the Honors College is offered to a select number of highly motivated and successful students who wish to take charge of their education and achieve their highest potential at UTSA.
Admission to the Honors College is on an invitation-only basis. Incoming new freshmen and transfer students are automatically considered for Honors College eligibility based on the student’s information at the time of application to UTSA.
There are no minimum test score, class rank, or GPA requirements for incoming freshmen. Current UTSA students are automatically considered for Honors College eligibility based on their cumulative GPA and completed credit hours as of the semester prior to invitation. See below for the details on admission for each type of student.
Automatic admission to the Honors College will be granted to all incoming freshmen students awarded a Distinguished Presidential Scholarship (DPS). For DPS eligibility requirements visit: DPS Scholarship Website. Incoming freshmen admitted after the DPS deadline are not guaranteed admission in the Honors College. Students admitted to UTSA after the January 15th DPS deadline will be reviewed for admissions eligibility through a holistic review process until the class is full.
Transfer students who are admitted to UTSA are Honors College eligible if they have at least 12 transferable credit hours, no more than 45 credit hours, and a 3.7+ GPA.
Current students are Honors College eligible if they have completed between 12 and 45 credit hours and a 3.5+ GPA.
Honors College Fees
Honors College students pay two fees. The Honors Experiential Enrichment Fee will be $240 and the Honors College Program Charge will be $100. The total fee of $340 each Fall and Spring semester provides students with their Honors benefits of priority registration, advising, and materials required to meet seven experiential learning achievements. If a student chooses to exit the Honors College before census date of each semester, all fees are fully refunded. If a student exits the Honors College after census day, there is no refund.
