Jill and honors college students

Guided Experiences in the UT San Antonio Honors College offer students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world contexts through high-impact, faculty- or community-led experiential learning projects. These experiences take place outside of the classroom and are designed to align with the Honors College’s SPICES framework, Philosophy, and Learning Outcomes. Guided by experts from UT San Antonio or the broader community, students dedicate at least 75 hours to collaborative, service-oriented work that culminates in a meaningful final product and presentation at the Honors College Experiential Learning Fair. Whether tackling community issues, conducting research, or developing professional skills, students engage deeply with learning as a public good. Program leads are compensated for their time and expertise, and all projects are designed to foster ethical leadership, interdisciplinary thinking, and personal growth. If you have a great idea for a Guided Experience or would like to learn more, please contact the Associate Dena for Academic Affairs at Hector.Aguilar@utsa.edu.

                           Guided ExperienceELF

The Honors Strategist Program is an intensive, 8-week applied research experience where Honors College students serve as paid consultants to real-world partners tackling pressing community or industry challenges. In small teams, students work collaboratively to analyze a specific problem, develop innovative solutions, and present their findings to stakeholders. Guided by expert mentors—including industry liaisons, UT San Antonio faculty, and staff from the Honors College and Najim Center—students engage in hands-on learning that builds project management, research, and professional communication skills. Participants receive $800 for their work, gain access to exclusive workshops and mentorship, and have the opportunity to present their final proposal. Whether focused on housing, healthcare, sustainability, or beyond, the Honors Strategist Program empowers students to apply their knowledge for public good—turning learning into meaningful, real-world impact. If you have a great idea for an Honors Strategist project or would like to learn more, please contact the Associate Dena for Academic Affairs at Hector.Aguilar@utsa.edu.
