Bio

Languages: English, Español

I was born and raised in a small town in the Central Valley of California. After graduating from high school, I moved to Texas and attended Laredo College for a year before transferring to the University of Texas at San Antonio. I graduated from UT San Atonio in 2023 with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, concentrating in Special Education. I received my M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration in 2024, also from UT San Antonio.

Intellectual Achievement (Research):

During my graduate experience, I joined a research team and began working as a Graduate Research Assistant. As a Graduate Research Assistant, I deepened my understanding of student experiences through qualitative research focused on inclusion in STEM at HSIs. I completed IRB training and supported research by providing transcription, coding, and manuscript preparation services. I also led the communications for our research project, managing the development of a website and co-authoring the content that highlights research outputs and professional presentations. In November 2024, I attended the ASHE Conference, where I co-presented our research and attended sessions that promoted student success. These skills in communication and content creation, combined with my understanding of FERPA and data confidentiality, enable me to communicate effectively with students and staff.

Cultural Exploration:

Moving to San Antonio from a small town in California was a bit of a cultural shock. Living in San Antonio has exposed me to more diverse cultures and experiences. In San Antonio, there are so many different festivals and gardens that not only celebrate a culture but also honor the history through forms of art and storytelling. I am very passionate about traveling! I find so much beauty in exploring new cultures, the language, food, music, and dance. I strongly encourage all students to take advantage of travel opportunities and the institution’s resources.
