Academic Counselor, Honors College
I am a excited about to be joining the Honors College Teams as a Academic Counselor. I was born and raised in San Antonio and I love living here. I graduated here at UT San Antonio with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. During my time as a student I served as a Supplemental Instructional Leader for the Academic Support Program. That is where I developed a passion for working with students and I knew I wanted to keep working with students. My most recent role I was a College Adviser for Americorp where I assisted high school students with College, FAFSA, and Scholarship Applications. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy journaling, reading, video games, yoga, working out, and movies..
Professional Development:
In my previous role as a College Adviser, I collaborated with different college representatives to do outreach events so students were able to learn about the college that the college representative was presenting. I had learn about internal and external collaborations to make a significant impact for students to make an informed decision on which college and programs they should do. I plan on making taking my previous experience and applying it to this position. Where I will do internal and external collaborations to do workshops and other outreach events as well.
Skill Development :
While I was a student at UT at San Antonio, I was a president of a student organization called Destino Movement where I lead events and weekly meetings. I was able to learn more about doing outreach, planning events and weekly meetings. It was hard but I learned so much from my mentors and the experience itself. It greatly prepared me to be a Academic Counselor.
