Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Terry Scholar® program at UTSA, a student must meet the following requirements:

  • Entering UTSA as a full-time first-year student immediately following graduation from a Texas high school
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Be a Texas resident
  • Graduated from a Texas high school
  • In top 25% of high school ranking
  • Strong record of community volunteerism and leadership
  • Demonstrate financial need

*Submission of SAT and ACT scores is optional

The application period for students entering college in Fall 2024 has closed.
If you will be graduating high school in Spring 2025, the application will open in September 2024 with a deadline of December 1, 2024.

Apply

You may apply for the Terry Scholars program prior to your acceptance into UTSA. However, you must have your myUTSA ID that is sent after your application is processed into UTSA’s system. Please allow adequate time (processing time varies during the application period).

A complete application for Terry Scholars at UTSA includes:

  • UTSA admissions application
  • Authenticated myUTSA ID which will be sent by email after submission of the admissions application
  • Terry Scholar at UTSA application in the Scholarship HUB; including high school and dual credit college transcripts
  • Submitted Letter of Recommendation through the Scholarship HUB
  • Completed FAFSA

Selection

Once submissions are complete, a committee will review applications and submit a list of nominees to the Terry Foundation®. The Terry Foundation will then confirm that list and extend invitations for interviews.

Opportunities within the Honors College

The Honors College offers students the opportunity to participate in a number of different programs to further expand knowledge, especially in the realms of professional development, leadership development, and public service. Special programs are fully integrated into the Honors College curriculum, making credit transfer simple and ensuring that students are working toward Honors requirements.
