Where Traditions and Modernism Intersect

Every two years, the Honors College offers a two-week program in Japan, led by Professor Mimi Yu from UTSA's Department of Modern Languages and Literatures (MLL).

The 2025 Japan Program is scheduled for May 17-30 (tentative dates) in Tokyo and Kyoto. Applications are now open, with a deadline of midnight on September 17, 2025. First-round reviews and selections will begin shortly after the deadline. Applications submitted after September 17 will be placed on a waitlist, with rolling admissions continuing until all spots are filled.

Honors students can apply for an Honors Study Abroad Planning Award to use for the 2025 Japan Program. For more information on scholarships, please check the application portal.
